On August 14th, 2013 the Free Legal Clinic of South Berkshire County, Inc. sponsored a Gratitude Party celebrating the contributions made by lawyers, volunteers and donors who nurture the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Great Barrington. The event was held in a magnificent garden setting at the home of Diana Felber and Stephen Glick. Diana, a member of the Board of Directors presented a clear and sterling vision of how the FLC should be considered a pillar of the community like Construct, Literacy Network, Railroad Street Youth Project and VIM, etc. are. The event was well attended by over fifty guests. Eve Schatz, Esq., founder and Executive Director of the Free Legal Clinic, shared the source of her inspiration that created the organization, mission, and and her vision to see it grow to other rural locations where the need for legal representation and advice is needed. She introduced three clients who described the FLC as “a lighthouse”, and with a staff that is accessible and easy to work with. Attorneys Gail Garrett and Lanny Zuckerman were honored for their support of the FLC and its clients. Clearly, the seeds were sown that evening to build andexpand FLC’s work within the Berkshire community and beyond. Fabulous music provided by the Last Chance Band added just the right background atmosphere along with an impressive spread of delicious food and drink.
